Couldn't load the update
The firmware didn't download. Check your internet connection and reload.
Plug in your base
Connect it to your computer with its USB-C cable, directly rather than through a hub. No totem needed.
Chrome asks to use MIDI devices: choose Allow.

Access to the base is blocked
- Click the icon left of the web address.
- Set MIDI devices to Allow (or find it under Site settings).
- Reload this page.

Click below, choose TotemForge_Base (or the only device listed) and click Connect.

A drive named RPI-RP2 appears. If a window opens for it, leave it.
Install the update
- Click Install.
- Choose RPI-RP2 in the sidebar (Mac: Locations, Windows: This PC) and click Select.
- If Chrome asks to view or edit files, allow it.
No RPI-RP2 drive?
Wait a few seconds. Still nothing? Restart the base again. On Windows, look in File Explorer under This PC.
Copy the file yourself instead
Download the firmware and drag totemforge-base.uf2 onto the RPI-RP2 drive. When the drive disappears, the update is in.
Copy the file to the drive
Drag totemforge-base.uf2 from your Downloads onto the RPI-RP2 drive. When the drive disappears, the update is in.
Installing…
Don't unplug the base. It restarts by itself.
A warning that RPI-RP2 wasn't ejected properly is normal: close it.
All done!
Your base is ready to summon portraits.
Use it with the Totem Forge app, or the web app on a PC or Mac.
Update sent
When the RPI-RP2 drive disappears, the update is in.
To confirm it, allow MIDI devices, reload and click Check my base.
The base didn't come back
Your base didn't restart with the new firmware.
- RPI-RP2 drive still there? The update didn't copy: install again.
- Drive gone? Unplug the base, plug it back in and check again.
Questions
Why update?
Bases from the first batch have firmware 1.0, made for the old Android app. The update lets the new Totem Forge app talk to the base. You only do it once.
What do I need?
A PC or Mac with Google Chrome, and your base. Phones and tablets can't do the update.
Is it safe? What if it goes wrong?
Yes. Your portraits are in the app and the totems keep their images. If the update is interrupted, nothing breaks: plug the base back in and run this page again.
